A little TLC now could go a long way
If 2020 was the year when we all spent more time at home than ever before in living memory, 2021 has started in a similar vein.
Lockdown in spring and summer is one thing – if you have a garden, you’ve got somewhere to escape for peace, sunshine and the chance to commune with nature. And those lucky enough to have a conservatory also benefited from an extra room – something many of us suddenly found we needed more of last year.
But lockdown in winter is a different proposition altogether. It’s cold, the days are short and sunshine is in limited supply, and if you have a conservatory you might be spending much less time in it.
There are several reasons why this is just the time you should show your conservatory some love, though. A little care now will ensure it’s in tip-top condition when the sunnier days arrive, and with some modifications you might find you can get more use from it in the colder months, too.
Taking care of your conservatory
There are various ways to combat the cold in your conservatory, from ensuring it is double-glazed to installing blinds and using rugs to help keep the heat in. You could also consider underfloor heating or radiators.
The latest glass technology substantially improves thermal insulation, so if you need any panels replaced, now might be the time to investigate this. The same is true of polycarbonate roofs, and there’s always an option to include solar inserts to help reflect heat, keeping the conservatory much cooler in the summer and helping keep it warmer in the winter.
Refurbishing your conservatory can also help you make use of it all year round. As conservatories age, the seals begin to deteriorate and become much less efficient at keeping draughts out. At Fargil, we can help with this and much more, refurbishing your conservatory to suit your individual needs. Our skilled craftsmen have a wealth of experience with refurbishments, renovations and repairs.
Before we start a project, we’ll visit your property to carry out a full technical survey, ensuring the foundations and support are in good condition. If you’re planning to replace a polycarbonate roof with glass, we will make sure the existing structure will support the extra weight.
We’re happy to carry out any glass or polycarbonate replacement.
